Veterans Appreciation Family Night tonight

Oconee County honors its veterans tonight with a special event at Gignilliat Field in Seneca.  Jon Bachman, chair of Honoring their Service 2013/Communities for Marines tells about tonight’s Veterans’ Appreciation Family Night.  “Tonight is a fun evening for the family to participate in.  We will bring the Marines in around 7pm.  This event gives the community an opportunity to meet them and express their appreciation.  It gives the Marines and veterans an opportunity to see the outpouring of support from the community.  It is Veterans’ Appreciation Night so it is open to all veterans of all wars and we encourage all of them that can to show up.” This event recognizes the service and contributions of all veterans of our area. The public is invited to come meet our veterans and enjoy food, music, and fireworks, adds Bachman. “This year is going to be a BBQ dinner.  A spectacular fireworks display is planned for the end.  It is just a fun time and it is open to everybody who can come, so come on out and enjoy a wonderful evening with an opportunity to meet and greet with our veterans and these visiting Marines.”  The event starts with BBQ at 6pm. There is a $5 charge for BBQ meals but all other entertainment is free.  Veterans’ Appreciation Family Night is tonight at Gignilliat Field in Seneca.
