Obesity recognized as a Disease

The American Medical Association is recognizing Obesity as a disease. Dr. Lou Arrone, director of a comprehensive weight control program, says that obese people need that recognition so they can get insurance-covered treatment.  “Diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancers are caused by Obesity and yet that treatment is excluded.” Treatment programs need to be implement to curb the escalating Obesity trend in America, says Dr. Arrone. “We have to implement treatment programs and we haven’t been doing that very well.” He concludes by saying that obese people want treatment.  “Anyone who is obese will tell you that they want to loose weight and I think if people had the kind of medical options that are now available, they would take them.” If you are obese, talk to your doctor about new treatments being made available to fight this growing disease.
