Mayor excited about upcoming Mud Run

The City of Seneca is looking for the toughest mudder.  On August 24th the city hosts a mud run over 46 obstacles at the Shaver Recreation Complex to raise money for the renovation of the Bertha Lee Strickland Museum, explains Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander.  “I watched it last time when the Collins Childrens’ Home had it and you have got to be in top shape because there is nothing easy about it.  It is almost 3.2 miles long, up and down hills.  A lot of work has gone into putting that track together and if you were able to see the Collins Home Mud Run when they did it, you can tell that there is a lot of interest for that type of activity.  They had a great turnout, probably close to 800 or 900 people were involved in that run and that just had tremendous success in their fundraiser for the Collins Childrens’ Home.  We were very proud to be a part of, so we are looking forward to this event.  We will use money raised from this mud run to help kick start the renovations of the Bertha Lee Strickland Museum.” The winning mudder team receives $1,000.  It cost $120 per team to enter the race.  You can register online at www.active.com, in person at the Shaver Recreation Complex in Seneca or download a registration form from the city’s website at www.seneca.sc.us.
