SDOC awards Google Chromebooks

Three teachers in the School District of Oconee County were recently selected to receive Google Chromebooks for their classroom. Funds from the sale of motor vehicle “apple” license plates were used for this purchase.  A random drawing was made to select recipients of the Chromebooks from those who attended all four days of the Summer Institute in June, explains Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Lucas.  “Each year in June we do a week in which we do teacher training and the teachers who went all four days to the training and remember they did this on their own, there was no extra pay, we took their names and we drew.  They each got three Google Chromebooks, which are lap top computers they can use in their classroom.  Tim Smith is a teacher at Tamassee-Salem Middle and High School, Linda Walker is a teacher at Northside Elementary and Peggy Burton is a teacher at Fair-Oak.  They each received three Google Chromebooks that they can use in the classroom.” The Google Chromebooks are internet compatible that work directly with the Cloud and the Web, so students can do research.
