SC Governor calling Attention to Childhood Cancer

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is calling attention to childhood cancers.  On Tuesday, the Governor proclaimed September as “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month” in the Palmetto State. A proclamation issued by Gov. Haley recognizes the courage and compassion of children and families affected by cancer.  The proclamation aims to raise awareness of cancer’s devastating effects and the need for continued research into understanding and finding a cure. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease of children and adolescents in the United States. The Governor’s office says it is estimated that 11,600 children under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer this year.
