Absentee Voting underway for Republican Runoff in SC

If you are a Republican voter in South Carolina, you can now cast an absentee runoff ballot at your local county elections office. The Republican Primary Runoff is Tuesday, June 26, but you can now walk in and vote absentee, says Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Director Joy Scharich. “Absentee voting for the Republican Primary Runoff is open for walk-in absentee if you meet one of the qualifications to vote by absentee as long as you are not crossing over from party to party. It’s the Republican Runoff, so if you voted in the Republican Primary, you can vote in the Republican Runoff.” There are 17 reasons that you can vote by absentee. On June 26, Republican voters will decide who will be the party’s candidate for governor, attorney general as well as other congressional and house district races statewide in the General Election on Nov. 6. To vote in person absentee, simply visit the voter registration office in your county of residence, complete an application, and cast your ballot. If you live in Oconee County, Scharich gives the hours to walk-in and vote absentee. “We’re open from 8:30am until 5pm and we do that up until 5pm on Monday, June 25.” The polls open at 7am on June 26, for the Republican Primary Runoffs and close at 7pm. Rules for photo ID required to vote at the polling place apply. The Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Office is located at 415 South Pine Street in Walhalla.
