Addendum To Be Added To County Administrator’s Contract After Executive Session For Oconee County Council

(Seneca, SC)—————-Oconee County Council met in executive session at their regular meeting last night but no action was taken on any item discussed in executive session. However, once Council returned to Council Chambers, a motion was made to direct County Council Chairman Julian Davis to execute an addendum to the contract of Oconee County Administrator Amanda Brock that would put in place penalties if she is terminated for whistleblower type activities. The motion was approved unanimously.
Oconee County Attorney David Root said the addendum is not a whistleblower provision but it is County Council putting in place a provision within the County Administrator’s contract that benefits the whole county by giving Brock more freedom to speak if she sees a wrongdoing by a County Council member or a staff person where Brock would not fear termination.
If Brock were to be terminated for such a cause, according to Root, she would be awarded a liquidated damage amount if Brock could prove that in court.
