Additional Arrest in Operation Opioid Battle

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday an additional arrest in “Operation Opioid Battle.” On July 30, the Sheriff’s Office and the Seneca Police Department executed two search warrants at two separate locations, one on Brookwood Drive near Seneca and the other on Daniel Avenue inside the city limits of Seneca. The search warrants were obtained based upon the controlled purchases of narcotics from both locations by Narcotics Agents of both agencies, which involved the purchase of heroin as well as methamphetamine. In all, eight individuals were arrested as part of the execution of the search warrants, plus, the Sheriff’s Office announced an additional arrest in the investigation on Aug. 3. The additional arrest announced Monday brings the total number arrested to ten. The latest arrestee was 32-year-old James Richard Rogers, Jr. for distribution of methamphetamine and two counts of distribution of heroin. He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on Sunday, Aug. 12, after being arrested by the Seneca Police Department. Rogers was given a combined $75,000 surety bond and remains in custody. He will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device as a condition of bond upon release. Both agencies are continuing their investigations.
