Additional Charge in Saturday Morning Shooting

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has filed an additional charge in the early Saturday morning shooting that occurred on Hobson Street near Westminster.  Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details.  “63-year-old James Lincoln Webb of 102 B Street in Westminster was arrested and charged with 8 counts of attempted murder on Saturday.  Today, Webb has been additionally charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm into a dwelling, according to warrants from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. According to investigators, deputies responded to a call of shots being fired at the Hobson Street location just before 5:30am. Officers with the Westminster Police Department also responded. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man lying on his back with guns and shotgun shells nearby.  Upon a search, another gun was found in the subject’s pocket.  The subject was detained and placed in an officer’s vehicle.  Multiple weapons and ammunition were found at the scene. Investigators report that there had been drinking going on among individuals at the scene and that there was an argument concerning property and funeral expenses.  The subject, who was the father-in-law of a person who was at the scene, left after becoming agitated and when he returned, he started shooting at the dwelling with people inside.  Investigators report that there were eight occupants inside.  No injuries were reported. Webb was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 8:19am Saturday.” The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation into the case.
