Air Quality Alert

The National Weather Service has relayed a Code Orange Ground Level Ozone Action Day issued by the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services for Greater Oconee, in effect until Friday at 8:00 pm EDT. High pressure, clear skies, and light winds are driving unhealthy concentrations of ground-level ozone, making outdoor air quality unsafe for sensitive groups—including children, older adults, and anyone with lung disease. These individuals should reduce heavy or prolonged outdoor exertion, take frequent breaks, and minimize intense activities, particularly during the afternoon and early evening. To help limit further pollution, residents are encouraged to reduce vehicle idling, conserve energy, and carpool or bike when possible.
