Amanda Brock Becomes 17th Oconee County Administrator After Special Called County Council Meeting

(Seneca, SC)———————————-Oconee County Council made it official earlier today at a Special Called Council Meeting. Amanda Brock is no longer the interim County Administrator as she had the interim tag removed after an unanimous vote by County Council and has become the 17th Oconee County Administrator. Brock, who has worked for the County for over 18 years, agreed to an 18 month contract that will pay her $125,000 a year with standard benefits. Oconee County Council Chairman Julian Davis says that the fact that Brock is local and has worked for the County for well over a decade was an incentive in the promotion of Brock from the interim Administrator’s position.

Brock said after the meeting that the Administrator’s job was “the greatest birthday gift ever.” Brock did not fill out an application for the job nor expressed a desire for the Administrator’s position but stated that the conclusion that was reached today was an evolutionary process.

During the meeting today before the vote was taken, District Five Councilman J. Glenn Hart said that after speaking with Les Blakenship, that Blakenship stated that his application for the Administrator’s was still active in case Council wanted to vote on it. Blakenship was one of three finalist in the search for a new County Administrator after the resignation of Scott Moulder last year. No action was taken in that regard. County Council District 1 representative John Elliott made a motion for Council to draft a letter to express their support for the new County Administrator to be signed by all council members and sent to all county employees. The motion passed unanimously.
