Anderson County Man Charged with Lotto Fraud; Several Others Arrested for Burglary, Drug Offenses

An Anderson County man, Caleb Crews, has been jailed and charged by state police with lottery fraud. According to an arrest warrant released by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Crews attempted to influence the winning of a prize through coercion, fraud, deception, or tampering with lottery equipment or materials on May 9, while working at a convenience store on Highway 28 Bypass. The affidavit attached to the warrant alleges that Crews knowingly provided three packs of Scratch Off lottery tickets, valued at $900, to a customer and accepted less payment than the tickets’ face value.
In other local police news, on Wednesday, jail records show that Oconee County Deputies arrested Brent Eric Money, age 34, on charges of first-degree burglary, malicious injury to property and petit larceny. Deputies also arrested 31-year-old Casey Timothy Dobbs for second degree burglary and petit larceny. Both men remain in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center pending bond.
And in Westminster on Wednesday, police filed charges of second-degree burglary and petit larceny against 23-year-old Timothy Lee Smith. He remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center with a total bond amount set at $12,000.
On Sunday, Walhalla Police arrested Christy Leigh Owens, 31 of Highlands, NC. She is in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on $125,000 bond for trafficking fentanyl, cocaine and crack cocaine, plus a fugitive from justice warrant, for which bond was denied, according to jail records.
