Anderson School District 5 Providing Free Meals for Third Straight Year

For the third year in a row, Anderson School District Five will offer free breakfast and lunch to all students through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, based on the number of students receiving free and reduced lunch. Culinary Services Director Quentin Cavanagh explained that districts typically qualify for CEP when 67-68% of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, making it a sound financial decision. The program has relieved financial pressure on parents and ensured that students receive healthy meals, improving academic performance and reducing absenteeism. Parents do not need to submit applications for the free meals, and the district feeds over 85% of students. Additionally, Anderson School Districts 2, 3, 4, and some schools in District One will also offer free meals.
