Annual Awards Ceremony held at Clemson University

On Tuesday, May 8, Clemson University held its annual awards ceremony in the Watt Family Innovation Center to celebrate the 2017–18 academic year. According to the Clemson University Media Relations Department, Leland Dunwoodie, 2018, was the winner of the Norris Medal as best all-around graduating senior. The Alumni Master Teacher Award was presented to Joseph Burgett, Construction Science and Management. Florence Extension Agent Tony Melton received the Alumni Award for Cooperative Extension Distinguished Public Service. The Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievements in Research went to Emil Alexov, Physics and Astronomy. The Phil Prince Award for Innovation in Teaching was presented to Jeff Fine, Political Science. Sarah Winslow in the Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice Department received the Frank A. Burtner Award for Excellence in Advising. The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Student Award went to Zachary Girvin in Bioengineering and Haley McKay in Communications. Matthew Leckenbusch in the Performing Arts Department received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Non-Student Award. The Ted Westmoreland Faculty Excellence Award was presented to Todd Schweisinger in Mechanical Engineering. The Class of 1956 Staff Excellence Award went to Ashley Crisp in the Academic Success Center. The Frankie O. Felder Graduate Student Award of Excellence was presented to Deborah Wingler. Anthony P. Keinath in the Plant and Environmental Sciences Department received the Godley-Snell Award for Excellence in Agricultural Research. The Rowland P. Alston Sr. Award for Excellence in Public Relations went to Millie Davenport in the Home and Garden Information Center. The Governor’s Young Scientist Award for Excellence in Scientific Research was presented to Srikanth Pilla in the Campbell Graduate Engineering Program. Cynthia Haynes in the English Department and Ronnie Chrestman in Institutional Research received the Thomas Green Clemson Award for Excellence. The Ralph D. Elliott Award for Outstanding Service to Off-Campus, Distance and Continuing Education went to Gail DePriest in the MBA Program. The Phil and Mary Bradley Award for Mentoring in Creative Inquiry was presented to Arelis Moore de Peralta in Languages and Youth, Family and Community Studies. Read more online at www.clemson.edu.
