Another Rainy Weekend in OC

For the fifth weekend in a row, precipitation was recorded by Official U.S. Weather Observer Barbara Wilson from her Hickory Hollow Farm in Walhalla. “For the weekend we only had .17 but it has really been some type of precipitation for the last five Sundays.” Rainfall totals for February are above average, continues Wilson. “We are close to seven inches so far for February, which is over the average.” The average monthly rainfall for Oconee County is close to five inches. Rainfall amounts may differ where you live; Wilson recorded these figures from her weather station in Walhalla, which is about one-mile from the county seat. Wilson and her family, the Brandts, have been recording the weather from Walhalla for the National Weather Service for over 100 years. They are the longest active weather watchers and volunteer reporters for the National Weather Service.
