Arrest made for Breach of Peace and Assault on Officer

A Walhalla man was arrested early this morning for assaulting an officer.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announces that 38-year-old Bruce Alan Wilson, Sr. stands charged with breach of peace and resisting arrest with an assault on an officer.  According to reports, deputies responded to an address near Walhalla in regards to a domestic call.  The complainant, a female, told dispatchers that Wilson came home intoxicated, pushed her and locked all the doors in the house so she could not get back in.  She told deputies that her daughter was in the house and that Wilson would not let her daughter out.  Wilson then told deputies to get off his property because they did not have a warrant.  Wilson then opened the door to continue yelling at deputies and that is when the daughter was able to escape to her mother.  Wilson reportedly then grabbed one of the deputies, telling him that the deputy could not come inside because he did not have a warrant.  Wilson then told deputies to leave his property, whereupon a deputy advised him that they were called out by the complainant and would only leave when the situation was resolved. After the complainant placed her daughter in her vehicle and was ready to leave and as the officers were starting to leave, Wilson continued to use profanity and became loud and boisterous, whereupon deputies advised Wilson to calm down and go back inside the house.  Wilson then reportedly told the deputies to get off his property, and according to the incident report, lunged at the deputy in an “aggressive manner.”  Wilson was told to calm down again or go back inside or he would be placed under arrest.  After Wilson continued to use profanity as the deputy was trying to leave, the deputy turned back around and told Wilson he was under arrest for breach of peace.  Wilson then reportedly took off, whereupon he was grabbed by the deputy at the door. Wilson then reportedly turned and swung a closed fist hitting the deputy on the right side of his face near his ear.  That deputy was joined by another deputy, who tried to gain control of Wilson, but Wilson, according to the incident report, would not give up.  The deputy was not sure if Wilson had any weapons, so the deputy physically gained control of his hands and arms.  Wilson was placed into handcuffs, where he complained of back pain.  Dispatchers were advised to have paramedics respond to transport Wilson to Oconee Medical Center. During transport, deputies were advised that Paramedics had to pull into the parking lot of Hardee’s in Walhalla due to the fact that Wilson had become combative.  Deputies arrived, where they helped paramedics gain control of Wilson and one deputy rode in the ambulance to make sure that Wilson did not get out of control again.  Wilson was treated and released from Oconee Medical Center and then was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.
