Autopsy and Warrants released in Westminster Homicide

An autopsy was performed Wednesday at the AnMed Medical Center on the body of James Evan Tyner.  Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis reports that the autopsy found that Tyner died as a result of cervical spinal cord trauma due to a gunshot wound to the neck. His manner of death is classified as homicide.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has obtained warrants against 34-year-old Shane Adam Burdette in the shooting death of James Tyner, explains Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt.  “The two warrants charge Burdette with murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime. The murder warrants allege that Burdette killed Tyner by “shooting him with a shotgun in the back of the neck” and alleges the incident took place at 108 Mount Pleasant Road. The possession charge alleges that Burdette did have in his possession a shotgun, which was used in the commission of the violent crime of murder.” The warrants were served to Burdette around 3:50pm Wednesday at the Oconee County Detention Center. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
