Autopsy released in Walhalla Homicide

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis has released the autopsy findings on the body of 63-year-old Robert Steven McDowell of Quarter Horse Trail in Walhalla. Addis says that he died at 5:57am in surgery at Greenville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday morning, Feb. 14. An autopsy was performed Thursday, Feb. 15, to assist with the death investigation. The autopsy confirmed Mr. McDowell died from internal injuries associated with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Addis says that his manner of death is classified as a homicide. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has filed charges in the investigation against 24-year-old Tyler Mark Broome of Westminster. He stands charged with one count each of murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and entering a premises after a warning.
