Back to School Bash in Walhalla

The Walhalla Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the School District of Oconee for a Back to School Bash on Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 6-8pm. It’s a free event for all students and their families who are assigned to a Walhalla Area School. The schools include James M. Brown, Keowee, Tamassee-Salem and Walhalla Elementary Schools, Walhalla Middle and High Schools and Faith Christian School. The Bash, takes place on Main Street near the green space and will celebrate the spirit of unity within Walhalla area schools. Life Point Church will provide bouncy games for the kids at no charge to the parents. There will be music and the schools will have food, face painting and other fundraising opportunities. Area businesses and churches have been invited to participate by donating back to school items that will be distributed during the event. Items collected at the District office include pencils, pens, notebook paper, composition notebooks, crayons, colored pencils, glue, glue sticks and back packs. If inclement weather sets in the call will be made by 3pm Tuesday with announcements made on WGOG, WSNW, the Walhalla Chamber and School District’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
