Be Patient at the Polls Today

Voter turnout is holding steady in Oconee County despite today’s rain. Residents are going to the polls to cast ballots in the 2018 Midterm Election. Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Director Joy Scharich says many people voted early and she expects even more to vote today. “We had a lot through the mail and we had a huge number of in-person walk-in absentee. I think the total all together was over 5,000, which is a good turnout for a Midterm Election, but you know sometimes that determines that the turnout today is going to be high, but then again it may just be that more people are taking advantage of the convenience of absentee voting. So, we will see, but so far today turnout from the polling locations has been pretty high.” Scharich encourages everyone to be patient at the polls. “Just be patient and make sure you have your photo ID.” The polls are open until 7pm tonight. To see a sample ballot before you go to the polls or to check your voting status, visit www.scvotes.org. Listen tonight starting at 7pm as 94.1 The Lake, WSNW broadcasts results live from Pine Street in Walhalla. The Lake will bring you the totals from each precinct in Oconee County.
