Big Saturday at the SC Foothills Heritage Fair

Saturday is the last day to see what an old fashioned country fair should be at the South Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair. Saturday, Sept 30, a big day is planned at the fair from 10am to 11pm, says Melinda Harbin, Secretary of the Fair Board. “At 10am is the 4-H Rabbit Show in the 4-H Tent, at 10am the 4-H Goat Show takes place in the FFA Show Arena, at 10am the 4-H Horse Show in the Main Arena, at 12:15pm we have Mr. Twister in the Main Tent, at 2pm the Richland Creek Ramblers are under the Main Tent, at 3pm is the Antique Tractor Parade under the Main Tent, at 4pm we have the Silver Eagle Band performing, at 6:15pm Mr. Twister will again be under the Main Tent, and at 7pm we have the King Arthur Flour Baking Contest under the Main Tent, which Nonna is very excited about because she gets to judge and taste all those things but at 7pm we will be auctioning off all those baked goods.” 94.1 The Lake’s morning show host Nonna Carlson is looking forward to being a judge. “I get to be part of the judging for the Cooking Contest, Baking Contest and the Cookie Contest, specifically cookies the kids have baked these cookies and they’re fantastic, can’t wait to see who wins. Of course, the cakes, pies, and cookies will be auctioned off after they’re judged. The proceeds from the auction go to the Back Pack Program, which helps out a lot of kids in Oconee County.” Harbin tells about Saturday’s big event. “It’s always the biggest event, we fill the arena every year with the Rodeo. At 8pm is the Championship Bull Riding and Barrel Racing in the arena. It’s the main event of the fair.” The South Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair is located on Highway 123 between Seneca and Westminster, across from Blue Ridge Electric.
