Bobcats battle Bulldogs for Region 1 AAA Title Tonight

It’s the battle of the Bobcats and Bulldogs tonight, Oct. 26, 2018, for the Region 1-AAA football title in the final regular season game. Seneca High School (SHS) Varsity Football Head Coach Hal Capps breaks down the Pendleton Bulldogs. “Offensively, they don’t mind throwing the ball, but they want the ball in the quarterback’s hands as much as possible because he is the one that really makes them go. He does a great job and he doesn’t mind running the football, so we really have to contain him. Defensively, they run a 4-3, they blitz the house and put pressure in the backfield. They play a lot of cover three and they try not to give up a big play.” This will also be a matchup against a former coach as Pendleton High School Athletic Director and Varsity Football Head Coach Yon Radford was at SHS last season. Coach Capps says he is very familiar with going up against former assistant coaches. “Coaching against Coach Radford is something that is not unique to me because I’ve been coaching a long time and I’ve had a lot of coaches get elevated to head coaching positions and then have to turn around and play them in a year or so. It’s one of those deals where you are happy for the guy, but you just want to be the one with a smile on your face when the game is over.” The crowd will once again be a factor tonight, adds Coach Capps. “It’s not a bad trip, there are plenty of places to stop and eat on the way. It will be a great night of high school football to watch two teams battle it out for the championship.” Kickoff of the Seneca Bobcats at the Pendleton Bulldogs is tonight at 7:30pm.
