BOIL WATER ADVISORY TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE WALHALLA WATER SYSTEM

The City of Walhalla Water Department advises the residents in the area within the boundaries of SC HWY 183, Bear Swamp Rd., Poplar Springs Rd., West Union Rd., SC HWY 11 North from Main St. to Fowler Rd., and Fowler Rd. to SC HWY 183, located in Oconee County, to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking. An early morning water main break on S HWY 11 has resulted in low system pressures and a drained storage tank. 

Affected areas include:

  • All customers east of SC HWY 183, from the intersection with Fowler Rd. south, to the intersection with West Bear Swamp Rd.
  • All customers west of Poplar Springs Rd., from the intersection of West Union Rd., south, to the intersection with East Bear Swamp Rd.

The area is being flushed to avoid contamination, water samples will be taken, and tested. Residents should continue to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking until otherwise notified by the City of Walhalla Water Department. Also, any ice made from water, which has not been boiled, should not be used for drinking purposes.
