Brothers sentenced to Life for Murder of Woman

Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins states that on March 15, 2018, 54-year-old Jahru Harold Smith was convicted by a Greenville County jury of murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. In addition, 57-year-old Bobby Leon Smith, his brother, was convicted of armed robbery, accessory after the fact, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. At the conclusion of the joint trial, both defendants were sentenced to life in prison without parole by the Honorable Robin B. Stilwell. Evidence presented at the trial by Assistant Solicitors Brian Moroney and Jeff Weston established that on Feb. 2, 2015, Jahru Smith and Bobby Smith conspired together to rob the victim, 23-year-old Shamese Nicole Logan, at 2 Mayflower Street in
Greenville County. During the course of the robbery, Logan was shot and killed while seated in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. Bobby Smith was arrested on the night of the incident, while Jahru Smith was captured ten days later. The case was investigated by Lloyd Newman with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
