Budget Passes First Reading in Clemson

Clemson City Council unanimously approved the first reading of the $97.6 million 2024-2025 fiscal year budget, which includes a millage increase from 92 to 95 mills and the creation of eight new full-time city positions. The budget, which anticipates revenues of over $91.6 million, will cover a $6 million gap with fund balances. The millage increase will contribute to public safety services, including a proposal to increase staff for the Clemson University Fire Department. The budget needs one more approval to be finalized for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2024. The second reading is scheduled for June 17 at Clemson City Hall.
