Burglary Suspect captured by Seneca Police

A burglary suspect is behind bars. Seneca Police Chief John Covington reports that Joshua Douglas Burns of Owens Road in Seneca was arrested at his residence Sunday afternoon. He was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center and served with six outstanding warrants. Some of the charges stem from a burglary reported on May 30, at the Oconee County Rescue Squad located on Goddard Avenue. Damage was done to the building and property was stolen. A second burglary occurred on June 4, at the former Propex Building located on Shiloh Road. This property is owned by the City of Seneca with several businesses leasing out spaces. A city office was entered, and several thousand dollars’ worth of electronic equipment was stolen. Chief Covington says that security camera video was obtained in the city burglary that assisted in identifying Burns. The case remains under investigation.
