Car Crash Tests

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has released the results of its crash tests for a group of 18 mid-size family cars. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety President Adrian Lund says the Honda Accord, the Ford Fusion and the Nissan Ultima did very well. “Even though they are priced much lower they have done better in this test as a group than their luxury counterparts.” Lund says a couple of popular Toyota models, the Camry and the Prius, did not do well in the latest crash tests. “The Camry was a disappointment as was the new Prius V, both of these vehicles had very bad structural performance, large intrusions into the occupant compartment, legs being shoved back into the leg space, things like that.” To read the complete crash test report on mid-size family cars, visit the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s website at www.iihs.org.
