The South Carolina Department of Corrections is requiring Oconee County to hire more officers to work at the new county jail in Walhalla. Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says that he has been approved to hire ten additional guards before July 1, when the new facility opens later that month. Interviews with applicants have begun.
