Deputies still investigating Copper Theft at new WHS

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the theft of copper from the construction site of the new Walhalla High School on Highway 11 at Picket Post. Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said deputies were dispatched to the construction site around 7am Thursday.  The theft appears to have occurred sometime between 6pm Wednesday and 6am Thursday from storage trailers.  […]

Fire destroys Salem Home

Fire investigators in Oconee County are trying to determine what caused a home on Ploma Drive in Salem to catch fire.  Firefighters say the single family home caught fire Wednesday afternoon and was destroyed in the blaze.  Authorities report that no one was injured in the fire.
