Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney announced after practice that defensive back Bashaud Breeland would not play in the Chick-fil-A Bowl against LSU due to injury. Breeland had been limited by a groin injury that bothered him over the second half of the season. He is scheduled to have surgery today. Breeland played in 10 games and had five starts this season.

Former Clemson running back C.J. Spiller went over the 1000-yard mark for the season for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been named a first-team All-American by Pro Football Weekly. The publication selects an All-America team each year based on NFL potential. It is the second consecutive year he has been named first-team All-American by the publication.  Watkins teammate, DeAndre Hopkins, was named an honorable mention selection.

Clemson center Dalton Freeman and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins have been named All-Americans by the Associated Press.  Freeman was named the second-team center, while Hopkins was named third-team wide receiver. University of South Carolina sophomore defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was a unanimous selection to the Associated Press first-team All-SEC squad. Clowney is second in the nation in both sacks (13.0) and tackles for loss (21.5), both single season school records. He is a finalist for the Nagurski, Lombardi, Bednarik and Hendricks awards as well.
