South Carolina turned to freshman quarterback Lorenzo Nunez for a spark on Saturday and he delivered with two touchdown passes in leading the Gamecocks (2-2) to a 31-14 victory over the University of Central Florida Knights (0-4). Nunez ran for 123 in his first start while Pharoh Cooper added a 35-yard TD catch to snap the Gamecocks’ two-game losing streak.

In area high school football action Friday night, the Seneca Bobcats beat the Wren Hurricanes 49-7. The South Carolina Gamecocks lost their home opener at Williams-Brice Stadium 26-22 to the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday. The sellout crowd almost witnessed a second half comeback as the Gamecocks out-gained Kentucky 256-92. With this lose, South Carolina falls to 1-1 and 0-1 in the SEC. The Gamecocks visit the Georgia Bulldogs (2-0) on Saturday.

In front of a sellout crowd at Memorial Stadium in Death Valley, the Clemson Tigers beat the Mountaineers from Appalachian State 41-10 on Saturday. Deshaun Watson threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Clemson improves to 2-0 with the win and now the Tigers visit the Louisville Cardinals (0-2) on Thursday for a 7:30pm kick on ESPN.

The Clemson Tigers’ season-opening game against Wofford on Saturday is sold out. Kick off is set for 12:30pm in Clemson Memorial Stadium. The Clemson University Athletic Ticket Office announces that there are no more tickets remaining for five of the seven home games this season.
