Celebrate Oconee Photo Contest on display at OHC

Photographs are on display at Oconee Heritage Center (OHC) now through October for the Celebrate Oconee Photo Contest. Local photographers were challenged to enter their best Oconee County photographs, and they met that challenge by submitting 56 photos of different facets of Oconee County. “Photographers were asked to take photos in three categories: historic places, people, and natural beauty. We received so many beautiful photographs!” says Assistant Curator Jennifer Moss, “it would be very hard to choose if I were a judge!” A group of local dignitaries will judge the photographs on creativity, composition and relevance to the contest themes. The public is invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award for the contest. Photographs will be on display at Oconee Heritage Center and on the OHC’s Facebook page for people to vote for their favorite. To vote for your favorite photograph, stop by OHC to view the exhibit. When you know which photo is your favorite, write it down on the slip of paper provided and place it in the box. You can also vote through the OHC’s Facebook page. Vote by liking the individual photo in the “Celebrate Oconee Photo Contest” album on the OHC Facebook page. Voting ends on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 5pm. Winners will be announced on Thursday, Aug. 23. The Celebrate Oconee Photo Contest was held to commemorate Oconee County’s Sesquicentennial, or 150th birthday. Sesquicentennial celebrations are being held throughout 2018.
