Charges To Be Upgraded To Murder For Two Teenagers In Burglary And Shooting Of Walhalla Woman

(Seneca, SC)————————Charges filed against two teenagers who Seneca Police say entered a residence on Maple Avenue in Seneca last Thursday and shot a 73 year old victim will be upgraded to murder after the victim died yesterday. According to Seneca Police Chief John Covington, the shooting victim had been hospitalized in the ICU unit at Prisma Health – Greenville Memorial Hospital after being transported from the incident scene. 

Coroner Karl Addis identified the victim as Geraldine M. Castle of Walhalla. She was pronounced dead around 5:20pm yesterday. According to Coroner Addis, an autopsy will be conducted to assist with the death investigation and the manner of death has been classified as a homicide. 

17 year old Hunter Lee Hunnicut and 19 year old Decota Castle Brown were initially charged with Attempted Murder as well as First Degree Burglary. Both subjects were denied bond and remain in custody at this time at the Oconee County Detention Center.
