Check on Student’s Progress through Parent Portal

In the past, you had to schedule a teacher conference to learn updates on your child’s progress in school. Now thanks to technology, you can do that from your home computer through the School District of Oconee County’s Parent Portal. “Parents can see whether or not students have completed assignments and turned them in by going to the Parent Portal and monitoring their grades and their attendance throughout the year.” Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Ginger Hopkins says signing up for Parent Portal is easy. “If parents have not yet signed up for the Parent Portal, they can go to the school district’s website and find the link to the Parent Portal and what that does is give the parent access to what is called Power School and that is our student information system. This is where our teachers keep track of student attendance; they report student grades and assignments, so parents have visibility every day, all the time on the latest information about their student.” To learn more about Parent Portal, visit the School District of Oconee County’s website at www.oconee.k12.sc.us.
