Chief Krein telling Cancer to take a Hike

Oconee County Emergency Services Deputy Chief of Emergency Management and Special Operations Scott Krein also serves as a volunteer with CureSearch Ultimate Hike. Recently, he made the decision to try a different kind of involvement, by hiking 28.3 miles in one day to raise funds for the 43 children that are diagnosed with cancer everyday. Chief Krein’s father recently died as a result of complications from cancer. That is in addition to his mother-in-law who died of Leukemia as well as several immediate family members who have survived cancer and friends that have been impacted by this terrible disease. So, Chief Krein is working to change those odds because he believes that a cure for cancer, anyone’s cancer will eventually cure all cancer. He’ll be participating in CureSearch for Children’s Cancer’s Ultimate Hike. In one life changing, lifesaving day, he’ll hike for 10-12 hours on the Foothills Trail, here in beautiful Oconee County. Before Chief Krein even gets to the start line, his goal is to raise at least $5,000 to fund research driven by CureSearch. Research that will lead to more cures, and safer treatments. Making a donation is easy, tax deductible, and secure. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
