City to unveil MLK Way Banners at Luncheon

As part of their month-long celebration of Black History Month, the City of Seneca will unveil the new Martin Luther King Way banners to those in attendance at the Bertha Lee Strickland Cultural Museum luncheon on Thursday.  Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson gives details. “We are going to reveal at the luncheon the plans for Martin Luther King Way.  The banners that everybody is talking about we are going to reveal those banners.” Another big event is planned to raise the street banners, adds Johnson. “We are going to have another big event when we launch the first one and put those up.  The banners are six-foot high and are comparable to the CAT Bus banners.  They are the same height and will be placed at the first entrance when you come in on I85, Martin Luther King Way will be right there on your way into town.” The new Martin Luther King Way banners will be placed along South 6th Street inside the City of Seneca.  The City is also planning to add markers along the street to denote significant contributions by the African-American community to the city, state and nation.
