Classes Cancelled Amid Hurricane Recovery Efforts

The School District of Oconee County will be closed on Tuesday, October 1st. No students or employees will report to buildings, now will it be an eLearning Day.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland: “After assessing the status of power outages and road conditions this morning, it is clear that we will not be in a place that school is possible for tomorrow. We still have several schools without power and know many families and staff members are without it as well. As we shared yesterday, we will continue to make future decisions day by day, so we have the best chance of getting students back to school as soon as possible.”

Next week, remember, is fall break for students in Oconee County, as well.

Schools in Pickens and Anderson Counties are closed today, too. In Anderson County schools will also remain closed on Wednesday. School officials in those counties added that these are not eLearning days, either.
