Clemson Plans to Go Back To Class This Fall

Classes are to be held in person when Clemson University’s fall semester starts on schedule and a limited number of employees are to return to work as early as June 1st, that according to a plan presented to the school’s Board of Trustees today. Phase One implements a limited amount of staff, Phase Two starts later in the summer with more employees getting things ramped up to bring the majority, if not all of students, faculty and staff in Phase Three of the plan this fall. Everything is being prepared for with regards to COVID-19 and the ongoing situation, with the administration considering options like face masks, both mass and targeted temperature readings, procedures for testing students, contact tracing and even management of the University’s wastewater. Different layouts for buildings and classrooms to keep social distancing measures in place, as well as ways to utilize plexiglass barriers are being looked at right now to help further limit the spread of and exposure to the novel coronavirus. A social contract that would be centered around personal accountability and mutual respect is also planned for students, faculty and staff, according to officials.
