Clemson Student drowns on Lake Jocassee

Oconee County rescuers  found the body of a boater who disappeared after his kayak capsized on Lake Jocassee. Oconee County Fire Chief Charles King said rescuers found the man’s body Sunday morning.  Chief King said a husband and wife were together when their small kayak capsized Saturday. Although both wore life jackets, the husband was unable to swim.  The two lost contact about 10 minutes after they were thrown into the water.  Chief King said it took the woman an hour to swim to shore and several hours more to flag down other boaters for help. Sunday afternoon, Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley identified the victim as 25-year-old Anlin Wang, who was a student at Clemson University. The coroner said Wang died from fresh water drowning. The incident remains under investigation.
