Clemson Teacher named SC History Teacher of Year

A teacher from Clemson was recently named the 2013 South Carolina History Teacher of the Year.  Congratulations go to Sarah Turpin of Clemson Elementary.  The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, HISTORY® and Preserve America selected her from teachers across the state.  Turpin teaches American History and Civics at Clemson Elementary, which is in the School District of Pickens County. As the South Carolina History Teacher of the Year, Turpin receives a $1,000 award and a certificate of recognition. In addition, an archive of books and historical resources will be presented to Clemson Elementary’s library in Turpin’s name. Turpin is now a finalist for the $10,000 National History Teacher of the Year Award, which will be announced in the fall.
