Collins Home Mud Run attracts Huge Crowd

Over $24,000 was raised at this past Saturday’s Collins Home Mud Run at the Shaver Recreation Complex in Seneca.  Hundreds of runners and volunteers spent the day making mud splatter for kids who matter.  Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson gives details.  “This year’s mud run for the Collins Children’s Home was outstanding.  We had over 200 teams, which is like 800 people and best of all we had so many volunteers.  The folks at the Collins Children’s Home did an outstanding job and now we are excited about our mud run coming up on August 24.” Seneca’s Mud Run on August 24 will benefit the Bertha Lee Strickland Cultural Museum.  All proceeds from this past Saturday’s mud run will benefit the Collins Children’s Home, which is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides a residential home for children between the ages of 2 – 21 who have been abused, abandoned, neglected, orphaned or are otherwise unable to live with their families. Johnson says pictures and videos from the mud run will be online later this week.  “If you want to see some great pictures go to our website in the next couple of days, we will have some photos and videos on there.  Also, check out the city’s Facebook page, you will see some great stuff on there too.  So, we are excited about this past weekend, it was tremendous community wide effort and thank yous go out to everybody.” The city’s website is www.seneca.sc.us.
