Community Rallies on the Green After Devastated Downtown Fire

Following a devastating Sept. 17 fire that leveled six historic downtown Walhalla businesses, the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual 18-hole golf scramble at Cross Creek Golf Club in Seneca to support the Walhalla Fire Relief Fund, with 94.1 The Lake News Director Kevin D. Hollis participating as a celebrity putter. The sold-out tournament drew 92 golfers and helped push relief funds past $35,855.04 to assist affected owners with long-term recovery and relocation.
