Contract Construction Seeking Solutions To Industry Workforce Construction Shortage

(Seneca, SC)———————————-Construction companies are facing an industry workforce construction shortage and there is great difficulty in finding qualified workers in the construction industry. One company is attempting to find solutions to this shortage. Contract Construction has been honoring and encouraging high school students who may be expressing an interest in a construction career with a Student of the Month award.

According to Dr. Meghan Ketterman, Director of Business Development with Contract Construction, construction companies are struggling to find qualified workers in a variety of positions and that includes workers who show up on time at their jobs, are certified and can pass a drug test, plus, working in the elements can be a consideration as to why some may not want to work in construction. Dr. Ketterman says that there is a myth that the construction industry is not technically savvy and that is a myth.

Dr. Ketterman says that additional reasons for honoring a Student of the Month is to develop a workforce at the school level to build relationships with the students and schools and to be able to give back to the schools and community. The Student of the Month award also helps to demonstrate that the construction industry is a wonderful career field where men and women can work to provide from themselves and their families.

Dr. Ketterman says that having qualified people to start immediately is extremely important once a entity, such as a School District, awards a construction job.

The Student of the Month award is presented on the Coffee Time program the last Monday of month right here on 94.1 The Lake.
