Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department Announces Appointment of First Paid Fire Chief

Seneca, SC — The Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department is proud to announce the appointment of Chief David (Dave) Scheuerer as the department’s first paid Fire Chief, effective January 1, 2026.

This historic milestone reflects the
department’s commitment to strengthening emergency services, enhancing operational effectiveness, and supporting the long-term safety of the community.

Chief Scheuerer joins the department with more than 25 years of diverse public safety experience across Georgia, and South Carolina. His background includes leadership roles such as Fire Chief of Demorest, GA, Fire
Marshal for Jasper County, SC and over 15 years of frontline service with one of Georgia’s larger county fire departments, Forsyth County. He also has experience in law enforcement and code enforcement.

He arrives with a strong reputation for professionalism and integrity, supported by a formal letter of recommendation from Demorest City Council Member Jimmy Davis, who praised Scheuerer’s dedication,
leadership, and commitment to community-focused service.

Chief Scheuerer expressed his enthusiasm about joining the department:
“I am honored and humbled to be chosen to serve this community and look forward to working with both our
volunteer members and department leadership as we move into this new era.”

Leadership Transition
Chief Scheuerer will succeed long-serving Fire Chief Kevin Christenbury, who has led the department with exceptional dedication for 29 years. Chief Christenbury will continue to serve as an active volunteer.

Commission Chairman Dr. William Howiler, jr. reflects on the contributions of Chief Christenbury while casting vision for the
future of the department under Chief Sheuerer’s lead.

“After a very thorough and dedicated search, we are very happy to welcome Chief Dave Sheuerer as our new fire chief. [We] feel very fortunate to have such a dedicated individual with professional and personality attributes that will advance our fire service. I would like to personally thank all of our volunteer members and especially Chief Kevin Christenbury for their help in this process. Thanks to them, Chief Scheuerer inherits a
very high-quality fire department”

A New Chapter for the Department
As the community grows and call volumes increase, the community’s decision to establish a special purpose tax district to include its first paid Fire Chief ensures enhanced administrative capacity, operational continuity, and long-term planning. Chief Scheuerer’s extensive leadership background and service-minded approach make him
exceptionally well suited to guide the department forward.

The Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department looks forward to welcoming Chief Scheuerer and benefiting from his experience, leadership, and dedication to public safety.
