Council to Address Censure Resolution and Ethics Statement

Clemson City Council will hold a public hearing on a tax increment financing (TIF) ordinance at 5:30 p.m. this evening at City Hall, followed by the regular meeting at 6 p.m. The agenda includes a resolution to censure Councilwoman Catherine Watt, accusing her of violating state law, city code, and council standards by allegedly disclosing confidential information and disrespecting colleagues. If approved, the resolution would revoke her city email access and bar her from attending executive sessions on legal matters. Watt, who recently lost her bid for mayor, denies the allegations, calling the resolution a “stunt.” Council will also discuss a proposed ethics and code of conduct statement and hear updates on the Arts Center facility. The public is invited to attend.
