Counterfeit Bills Circulating in Clemson Area

Clemson City Police said in a statement that business owners, retail employees and everyone else should be on their guard because counterfeit money is once again circulating in the area.

They said it should be fairly easy to spot, because, among the many discrepancies on the fake currency are a missing Liberty Bell on a supposed $100 and the words “Motion Picture Purposes” is written in several places on the front and back. It even tells you “This note is for motion picture purposes. It is NOT legal tender” on the front. It says “IN PROPS WE TRUST” on the back, and has the website where you can get it from in the bottom right corner.

Clemson Police posted a picture of one of the fake $100’s on their Facebook page highlighting the clues that let them know the money is no good.
