Court Hearing Update for Walhalla Councilman
Walhalla Councilman Grant Keehn’s motion for an injunction to reverse a $550,000 budget transfer from the water department’s enterprise fund to the city’s general fund was not heard due to improper notification. Representing himself, Keehn admitted to Judge William McMaster a procedural error. The judge also considered a motion by Walhalla’s attorney, John Michael Sosser, to dismiss Keehn’s complaint, which is under advisement.
Additionally, Keehn’s supporter, water customer Skylar Carver, was denied entry as a co-plaintiff. Sosser argued that courts cannot alter council budget decisions, while Keehn, citing his roles as a taxpayer, water customer, and councilman, claimed standing to challenge the transfer due to poor water quality. Outside the Oconee Courthouse, our sister station 101.7/WGOG NEWS’s Dick Mangrum spoke to Keehn and Carver after court on Thursday…
