Crenshaw names Chief Deputy

Next year’s number two officer in the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department has been named. Oconee County Sheriff-elect Mike Crenshaw announces that 40-year old Kevin Davis will serve as the next chief deputy. “Kevin Davis is a life-long native of Oconee County. He is a graduate of Walhalla High School and Tri-County Technical College with an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. Kevin has approximately 17-years of law enforcement experience. He started with the Walhalla Police Department. He earned the highest academic average award in his class at the Criminal Justice Academy. He has been with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department for about 15-years.” Crenshaw calls Davis the perfect fit for his administration. “Looking at all the attributes that I wanted in a chief deputy, of course someone that bring a different perspective to the administrative staff, someone that could compliment and create a balance in the Sheriff’s Department. I talk throughout the campaign about road patrol and that partnership with citizens and that being the backbone of the Sheriff’s Department and Kevin brings that to the administrative staff with his vast experience on road patrol, I think he is the perfect fit.” Davis is a member of SWAT, a certified instructor in firearms, defensive tactics, knife defense, and chemical munitions. He assumes his new duties as chief deputy in the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department in January.
