CU among Top Colleges revolutionizing Online Learning
Clemson University has been recognized as one of the nation’s 35 colleges revolutionizing online education, according to Affordable Colleges Online. The website researched thousands of universities and colleges throughout the United States to identify those that made the largest strides in engaging, assessing and teaching students at multiple levels. The Clemson University Media Relations Department release says the recognition is thanks largely to Leidy Klotz, a Clemson University civil engineering professor who created the university’s first MOOC (massive open online course), the website ranked Clemson No. 23 in America. With more than 600 students enrolled, including those from South Carolina, throughout the United States and across international waters, Klotz encourages team participation from those able to access the class from their computers with students who are on-campus at Clemson. For example, a student of the class from India shared a similar idea with an on-campus student: generating power from bicycles. Thus, the two students, separated by thousands of miles, now are working together on projects.
