CU names Interim Provost

Clemson University President James F. Barker has named Nadim Aziz to the position of interim vice president for academic affairs and provost after Doris Helms announced she would retire at the end of June. Aziz was chairman of the civil engineering department when he was appointed associate provost for faculty development and support a year ago. His appointment is effective July 1. Helms will remain at Clemson until August to assist with the transition. Helms, who has been at Clemson 40 years, spent the last 13 as provost in charge of all academic affairs, including teaching; student admissions, registration and financial aid; graduate studies; research; and computing services.
